Treat Yourself to Alpine Fondue & Starlight Descent

A snow-covered gem in beautiful British Columbia, Sun Peaks offers a frosty winter vacation destination for adventurers, foodies, and bookworms who like to curl up by the fire.

Our Sun Peaks accommodations are in the heart of Canada’s premier ski destination, with long runs that meander through forests and exhilarating steps for thrill-seekers.

If you prefer a slower pace, step into a pair of Nordic skis or grab a parka and a pole for a day of Sun Peak’s guided ice fishing. Sun Peaks’ famous Nordic skiing is accessed by a chairlift, which drops skiers off at the top of the Holy Cow trail. From there, explore groomed trails and endless backcountry powder.

Four-legged friends are allowed on some of the Nordic trails, so be sure to book one of our Sun Peaks dog-friendly rentals and bring Fido along.

Winter in Sun Peaks

Cahilty Lodge at Sun Peaks is known as an outdoor destination, so be sure to pack a snowsuit and join the wintry fun. Located in central British Columbia, Sun Peaks is the country’s second-largest ski area, boasting season-long powder and runs for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

There are so many things to do during the winter, including Sun Peaks Nordic and downhill skiing, dog sledding, fishing, and hiking. When the day’s adventures are done, enjoy a latte or beer at a locally owned establishment in the mountain’s ski-through village. The restaurants, cafes, and shops won’t disappoint.

Alpine Fondue

For an experience that combines alpine adventure and an exquisite meal, look no further than Sun Peaks’ alpine fondue dinner. Board the Sunburst Express chairlift for an exclusive evening of mid-mountain fondue at the Sunburst Bar + Eatery. Exiting the lift, you’ll be met with crisp air and scenic views of the runs. Inside, enjoy a shareable fondue platter and perfectly paired wines by large windows that frame the night sky. When making your list of things to do in Sun Peaks, be sure to add this exciting alpine dining adventure to the top.

Starlight Descent

Fondue is only half the adventure. After dinner, your group will be joined by a guide as you strap on your skis at the summit of a freshly groomed run. Descend under the star with a headlamp to guide you — a run you’ll never forget!

How To Make Reservations

Alpine Fondue and Starlight Descent adventure runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from mid-December until the end of March. Reservations must be made and paid for at least one full day in advance. Participants must be at least intermediate-level skiers and snowboarders, which means being able to ski and ride comfortably on “blue” hills.
