Heffley Lake
Heffley Lake is about a 20-minute drive from Cahilty Lodge at Sun Peaks on Heffley Louis Creek Road, which is the main road to and from the resort. Heffley is a crystal clear lake where people go swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. There are also picnic tables by the lake for you to enjoy a lunch or snack. The beautiful scenery makes Sun Peaks paddleboarding a must-do activity!
Try Paddleboarding with Surfit
Located right on Heffley Lake, Surfit has paddleboards for rent and provides instructions on how to use them. You can paddle in the beautiful waters and enjoy the scenery. You won’t want to miss out on paddleboarding, as it is one of the best things to do in Sun Peaks during the summer.

Bodie Shandro is one of North America’s first certified stand-up paddle (SUP) instructors and competitors. He brings his passion and knowledge into everything he does at Surfit Paddleboarding. He has sales, rentals, lessons, and more. Are you interested in a yoga class on a SUP? Brodie has you covered. Not sure about standing up on a board on the water? No problem, he’ll provide you with a seat so you feel comfortable at all times.
If you are looking for more adventure with your SUP rental, that can be arranged. You can take part in a heli-SUP adventure. Take a helicopter ride to a remote lake and paddle in the majestic mountains among waterfalls in the glacial waters. This trip is great for any level of SUP paddler.
New in the summer of 2023 is an electric jet surf experience. This is a powered board that allows you to surf around the lake with no waves needed. It’s the newest, next-level water sport and you can try it out with Surfit.
Paddleboard Rentals
Renting paddleboards couldn’t be easier at Surfit. Just pull up in the parking lot and your paddleboard will be waiting for you. The rental includes a board, paddle, leash, life jacket, and mini-lesson. For a great group activity, rent a multi-person inflatable SUP – up to eight people on one board!
Be aware that you can not do any bookings through email, text, or Facebook. The only way to make a reservation is by phone during business hours.

Take Paddleboarding Lessons
If you have never done SUP before, it’s understandable that you would be unsure of yourself. Each rental includes a mini-lesson but you can also book an hour-and-a-half intensive lesson. This includes equipment familiarization, dry-land instruction, water safety, board transport, stance, balance, and paddle techniques. You will be an expert in no time!
You can also schedule a yoga SUP lesson if you have a group of three or more. Do a relaxing stretch yoga experience in the middle of Heffley Lake.
