Head Cook

To provide planning, direction, leadership and hands on food preparation for this fast paced family establishment. While providing continued excellence in comfort food quality and incredible customer service to Sun Peaks’ friendliest family restaurant.

Job Description:

1.) Under the direction of the Hotel Operations Manager, supervise activities of all kitchen staff;
a. Provide Hands on Training for all staff on our Comfort Family Food Restaurant Vision, along with a detailed program on hygienic handling and storage of food
b. Prepare schedules that provide high quality food, superior presentation and timely delivery while maintaining strict budget requirements for food costs and labor management
c. Provide leadership that ensures a happy, positive work environment for all our associates
d. Take ownership of the restaurant by working the majority of the busy times including weekends and holidays, show the team how it’s done
2.) Ensure and maintain a clean, safe and hazard free operation of all kitchen equipment and working areas
3.) Hands on participation in all daily team clean events
4.) Involvement in menu development and recipe system controls for consistent superior quality and service
5.) Develop a process with suppliers and staff to ensure that food and liquor supplies are always sufficient yet never excessive and wasteful.

Job Requirements:

1.) A passion for food and customer service
2.) A strong culinary background with 3 years experience in a similar establishment as a Sous Chef while working towards a Red Seal Certification
3.) Attention to detail and cleanliness with the ability to uphold a motivated and organized work environment
4.) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
5.) Physically fit, with the ability to lift loads of 35 kg.
